• In third grade, reading instruction is at the individual student’s level through one-on-one or small group instruction. Students will participate in Guided Reading lessons using leveled book. This year we will also be using components of the reading series called Wonders. We will also be using Fundations.
• We will be making predictions, stating the author’s message, using context clues, making connections, drawing conclusions, and much more during reading this year.
• Third graders spend 10 - 15 minutes daily for silent sustained reading during the school day. They are also required to read at least 15 minutes every night.
• Children need to read regularly in order to improve their comprehension skills and fluency/reading rate.
